Minister Chandrasekaran bids farewell to the nation

Jan 04, Talawakele: The funeral of the Upcountry People's Front Leader and Community Development and Social Inequity Eradication Minister P. Chandrasekeran was held this afternoon at the Talawakele Urban Council grounds with full state honours.
The Minister's remains were brought to the Lindula Urban Council for the public in his electorate to pay their last respects. Thousands of people arrived to pay their last respects, the state-run TV reported. Earlier the remains were placed at the parliament for the legislators to pay their tributes.
President Rajapaksa visited Talawakele yesterday to pay his last respects to the late Minister and expressed his condolences to the family members.
Mr. Chandrasekaran, died of cardiac failure at the age of 52 on the New Year's day.
Upcountry Peoples Front member S.Arulsamy is expected to fill the vacancy created by the UPF leader's death.
