* Two killed in an accidental explosion in Jaffna

Feb 15, Jaffna: Two school children were killed and six others were injured in an accidental bomb explosion in Jaffna this afternoon, the police said.

The explosion occurred at Mambalam Junction in Puliadi along A-9 Road around 3:00 p.m. today.

Reportedly the children have picked up a spherical object along the road and tossed it away. The suspected object has exploded upon when it hit the ground.

The injured have been admitted to the Jaffna Hospital immediately after the explosion.

The police are carrying out further investigations.
