Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Felix Perera, who recently toured the North to meet the fishing community to discuss outstanding issues faced by fishermen says his Ministry has planned two-year development project in the North at a cost of Rs. 1.70 billion to provide extended facilities to the fishing community.
Meanwhile the government plans to set up fresh fish outlets and pharmacies Lak Sathosa and Coop City outlets, according a decision taken at a discussion chaired by the Treasury Secretary.
Currently there are 363 Coop City outlets in addition to Lak Sathosa outlets. These outlets provide consumer goods at concessionary prices.
