* Culinary Art 2010 showcases talents of Sri Lankan chefs

Feb 06, Colombo: Culinary Art 2010, Sri Lanka's largest food exhibition opened at the BMICH yesterday with the participation of over 900 chefs.

The exhibition organized by the Chefs Guild of Lanka (CGL) say they had over 1,600 entries from five star hotels, resorts, hotels in the Maldive Islands, hotel schools, restaurants, airline catering establishments, the Sri Lanka Air Force and Hospitals.

Culinary Art 2010 will showcase the talents of local chefs, mainly young chefs from 130 hotels and give them the opportunity to be recognized. It will have over 6,000 dishes to please the palate and the eye.

The competitions will be held in two categories. Static displays will showcase the finished preparations such as wedding cakes, pastries, desserts and many others. Practical Live Displays will demonstrate the art of cooking to the audience.

The event held to boost the tourist industry will run through February 8th at the BMICH.
