The President is expected to meet his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev on Monday, February 8th.
He will be discussing issues regarding bilateral relations between the two countries and economic assistance to Sri Lanka.
In a congratulatory message to President Rajapaksa on his re-election, the Russian President expressed optimism that the Sri Lankan President's forthcoming visit to Russia will strengthen the longstanding relations between the two nations.

Feb 06, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa is to leave on a 4-day official visit to Russian Federation today. This is President's first overseas visit since his reelection to a second term in office.
