* Emergency extended in Sri Lanka for another month

Feb 05, Colombo: Sri Lanka parliament today voted to extend the Emergency Law for another month with a majority of 87 votes.

In the voting 102 parliamentarians voted for the bill while 15 voted against it.

The main opposition United National Party, Tamil National Alliance parliamentarians parliamentarian Mano Ganesan voted against the bill.

The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) and Marxist Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna were not present in the parliament during voting.
