Former UNP politician appointed as SLFP organizer for Udunuwara

Feb 05, Colombo: The recent crossed-over from the opposition United National Party, S.B. Dissanayake has been appointed as the chief organizer of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) for the Udunuwara electorate in the Kandy District.
S.B. Dissanayake, who was granted a full presidential pardon recently, crossed over to the ruling party prior to the presidential elections and pledged his support
He was the national organizer of the UNP, leader of the opposition of the Central Provincial Council and the UNP chief organizer of the Walapane electorate.
Dissanayake, whose civic rights had been deprived on a contempt case in 2004 for seven years sought Supreme Court's assistance to get himself eligible to contest for elections before 2011. He won his election rights in 2008 and contested for the Chief Minister post of the Central Province.
