Sri Lanka Tamil party accuses 'Gang of five' in main opposition for ruining the UNP

Apr 25, Colombo: A minor Tamil party of Sri Lanka, the Democratic People's Front (DPF), which last week seceded from the main opposition coalition United National Front (UNF) for not allocating a National List slot for the party has accused the five senior leaders of the United National party (UNP), its main constituent.
The DPF blamed the UNP Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe, Karu Jayasuriya, Tissa Attanayake, Ravi Katunayake and Malik Samarawickrema for manipulating such a move.
According to the DPF, these UNPers, also known as the 'Gang of five' play a key role in all the decision making activities of the UNP and have thus far ruined the party.
DPF Colombo District parliamentarian Prabha Ganeshan has reportedly said Wickremasinghe was responsible for the blunders and failures of the UNP.
He has said the 'Gang' was ruining the party by casting aside its loyal members and minority allies.
DPF leader Mano Ganeshan has vowed to fight against the UNP's decision that compelled his party to quit the UNF.
Meanwhile, DPF Leader has received many telephone calls from governing and opposition party members who have expressed their dismay at the omission of his name from the UNP National List.
He has expressed willingness to join the government if invited and reportedly had a discussion with President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
