* Final results of Sri Lanka's general election expected on Wednesday

Apr 19, Colombo: The re-polling of the general election of Sri Lanka in parts of Kandy and Trincomalee districts will be held tomorrow (20).

Poll results at the April 8 general election were annulled in a 37 polling centers in these districts due to election malpractices. However, no culprits have been brought to books.

The Election Commissioner has announced that the polling may be annulled again if malpractices occurred again.

Over 50,000 voters are eligible to vote at this re-polling. The final results of Kandy and Trincomalee districts are expected to be released past midnight tomorrow. The results of the preferential votes are expected to be released by the early hours of Wednesday.

Final results of the general election of Sri Lanka are expected to be announced Wednesday morning.

The number of slots for each party from the national list will be announced with the final result.

The government expects to convene the parliament on April 22. The names of all MPs are to be gazetted soon.
