Sri Lanka's main opposition candidate hospitalized following post election intra party clash

Apr 11, Colombo: A member of Sri Lanka's main opposition UNP was assaulted and admitted to hospital following a post-election intra party battle.
UNP Puttalam District candidate and former parliamentarian Palitha Range Bandara was assaulted in Chilaw yesterday (10) evening and was admitted to hospital.
Range Bandara had undergone an operation at the Colombo National Hospital last night and is currently recovering in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.
The UNP member is reportedly receiving treatment for injuries on his left arm, both legs and head sustained following the attack on him while he was at a meeting in Chilaw last evening.
Two others, including a policeman, also injured in the attack, are receiving treatment at the Chilaw hospital.
Police Spokesperson SP Prishantha Jayakody said the suspects, including another UNP member from the area were arrested over the attack and will be produced in Court today (11).
He said that four persons have been arrested over the intra-party clash.
