Liquor outlets ordered to close during Sri Lanka elections and New Year

Apr 07, Colombo: The Sri Lankan government has ordered to close all the liquor stores are ordered to close during the elections period and the upcoming Sinhala and Hindu New Year.
Accordingly all liquor will be closed on the 8th, 9th, 13th, and 14th of this month.
The government has declared the day after the General Election, Friday the 9th of this month as a public and special bank holiday.
Labour Minister Athauda Seneviratne has requested the heads of all state corporations, statutory boards and all other employers to grant leave to all their employees on Friday.
Sri Lanka Elections Department plans to deploy around 123,000 public officials to hold the general election on Thursday, April 08. Most of these officials will be on duty from today.
