Sri Lanka UN Peace Keeping Force personnel to be increased

Apr 05, Colombo: Sri Lanka Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya has said today that President Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed to increase the Sri Lanka UN Peace Keeping Force personnel from 950 per term to 5,000.
Lieutenant General Jayasuriya has made this statement in Mankulam when addressing a Task Force 3 gathering. He had added that planning is underway to increase the numbers in future.
A UN Peace Keeping Force term is usually a six month period. Currently the Sri Lankan peace keeping unit is in Haiti in the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH).
