Sun, Apr 4, 2010, 12:23 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Apr 04, Colombo: The group of monks who commenced a fast unto death yesterday (3) opposite the Fort Railway Station in Colombo calling for the release of former Army Commander Retired General Sarath Fonseka are to re-commence the fast after the police moved them away last night.

The monks are scheduled to recommence the fast once again opposite the Fort Railway Station at noon today (04).

Ven. Vakamulla Uditha Thero from the People's Movement for the General's Redemption told the media that the group was committed to fight for the release of General Fonseka.

The Thero claimed that people in the country are today able to celebrate the Sinhala New Year in peace because of the service rendered by the "heroic General."
