Monks on fast unto death in Sri Lanka capital demanding General Fonseka's release

Apr 03, Colombo: A group of monks affiliated to the Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) launched a fast unto death today (3) demanding the release of former Army Commander Retired General Sarath Fonseka.
The monks commenced the fast this morning in front of the Fort railway Station in downtown Colombo.
Commencing the protest, the monks said they would stop the campaign only when General Fonseka is released from military custody.
The group calling themselves the People's Movement for the Release of the General is demanding General Fonseka's to be released immediately, as he is a war hero and was suffering from ill health.
