* President inspects site to build dagoba to symbolize Sri Lanka's war victory

Sept 30, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa today visited the Anuradhapura Sri Maha Bodi sacred area to inspect the land for a dagoba under a programme to build nine dagobas in each of the nine provinces to symbolize the victory of war against the terrorists.

The first of these dagobas has been proposed to be built near the Sri Maha Bodi.

Students from Silawathura Maha Vidyalaya in Mannar also visited the Sri Maha Bodi.

Atamasthanadhipathi Ven. Dr. Pallegama Sirinivasa Nayake Thera, Governor of North Central Province Karunaratna Diwulgane, Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake, Chief of Defence Staff General Sarath Fonseka, Army Commander Jagath Jayasooriya, Director of Archeologist Post Graduate Institute Dr. Nimal Silva, Archeologist Provincial Director Mahinda Weerakkody also participated in the occasion.
