* Army truck collides with ambulance killing one

Sept 30, Colombo: A collision between an ambulance and an army truck carrying women soldiers early this morning along the Dambulla – Habarana road, killed the driver of the ambulance and injured another 12.

According to media reports, the ambulance was returning to Serunuwara Hospital after making a trip to Colombo while the army truck was transporting 8 women soldiers from the Minneriya Army Camp to Dambulla when the accident occurred.

Those injured have been admitted to the Dambulla Hospital, One of the injured in a critical condition has been transferred to Kandy Hospital.

The Sigiriya police are conducting an inquiry into the accident.
