Sri Lankan government to spend 3.5 billion rupees to develop infrastructure in Vavuniya District

Sept 30, Colombo: Sri Lankan government has allocated 3.5 billion rupees for projects within the Vavuniya District under its ambitious 180-day accelerated development program 'Uthuru Wasanthaya' (Northern Spring).
The government said the projects, launched under the guidance of the head of the 'Uthuru Wasanthaya' task force, senior presidential advisor and parliamentarian Basil Rajapaksa, are aimed at developing the infrastructure of those villages where the displaced civilians are to be resettled.
A special discussion chaired by Minister of Resettlement and Disaster Relief Services Risath Bathiyudeen was held recently at the Vavuniya District Secretariat with the participation of Northern province Governor Major General G.A. Chandrasiri many other senior officials.
