* Sri Lanka court refuses bail to suspects of Nipuna Ramanayake assault case

Sept 29, Colombo: The Kaduwela Magistrate Courts today refused bail and further remanded the ten suspects charged in the assault of Nipuna Ramanayaka, an IT student in Malambe.

The Court ordered to remand all the suspects, including the wife and son of SSP Vaas Gunawardena, until 13th of October.

The Court also instructed the police to gather information on another suspected policeman said to be involved in the incident.

Nipuna Ramanayake, a 21-year-old student of the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) at Malambe was abducted and assaulted last month allegedly by the son and wife of SSP Gunawardena along with 11 other policemen.
