Sept 29, Colombo: Following a series of controversies Dr. P.B. Jayasundara has once again officially assumed duties as the new Treasury Secretary in a ceremony at the Finance Ministry this morning.
The ceremony, held at an auspicious time of 10:24 a.m. was followed by several religious activities at the Finance Ministry, its sources confirmed. Deputy Minister of Finance, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya and other government officials representing the Ministry of Finance and Treasury attended the ceremony.
Soon after assuming duties Dr. Jayasundara has called a special meeting with executive officers of the Ministry to discuss the new directions of the Secretary.
Dr. P.B Jayasundara was reappointed as the Treasury Secretary by the President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday after the Supreme Court overturned an earlier ban and granted the opportunity to work in public service.
This was the second time that Dr. Jayasundara was appointed as the Treasury Secretary under the current government.
