Sri Lanka exporters receive awards from the President
Sept 28, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa today rewarded 25 exporters under the Export Development Reward Scheme (EDRS) in a ceremony held at the Temple Trees.
The EDRS, designed to help exporters cope with the current global economic crisis is a reward scheme to grant a five percent export incentive for exporters who maintained export earnings similar to last year's levels with no employee lay-offs and met specific domestic value addition criteria for different sectors.
Minister of Export Development and International Trade Prof. G. L. Peiris, President's Secretary Lalith Weeratunga, Governor of the Central Bank Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Secretary of Finance Ministry Sumith Abeysinghe, Secretary of Ministry of Exports Development and International Trade S. Ranugge, Chairman of Board of Investment Dhammika Perera also participated in the event.
