Oct 30, Colombo: Gamini Haththotuwegama, one of the finest artists who dedicated his life to the modern street drama culture in Sri Lanka has passed away this morning at a hospital in Colombo after a brief illness.
The legendary theater master Haththotuwegama who is a university teacher of literature, was inspired by a vision of theatre as a social instrument.
He directed several stage dramas and introduced hundreds of actors to the field during his life time.
The funeral arrangements are to be announced later.
