Thu, Oct 29, 2009, 11:10 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Oct 29, Colombo: Sri Lanka's President today ordered the police to thoroughly investigation the death threats received by the journalists of Leader newspapers.

President's order comes following a representation by the Editor-in-Chief of the Sunday Leader, Frederica Jansz to the President over the death threats received by her and the News Editor Munza Mushtaq.

The journalists were threatened by post following a report published in their paper on the Chanel 4 video.

Lasantha Wickramathunga, the founding editor of the Sunday Leader, which is widely perceived as an anti government newspaper, was gunned down near his office in January. No culprit has been arrested yet on the murder.
