Sri Lanka Health Ministry warns alleged Indian Pharmaceutical Companies on contaminated vaccine vials

Oct 29, Colombo: The Ministry of Health has claimed explanations from six Indian pharmaceutical companies with regard to the medicinal drugs contaminated with glass particles and plastic recently.
The authorities warned if the companies fail to meet the deadline their names would be blacklisted and their products will be banned from being sold in Sri Lanka, said the Health Ministry.
The six pharmaceutical companies are Kilitch Drugs (India) Pvt. Limited, Umedica Laboratories Pvt. Ltd, Belco Pharma, Vins Biotech, Backster India and Mercury Laboratory.
These companies are supposed to submit their explanations tomorrow (Oct 30) during an special inquiry at the National Pharmaceutical Authority.
Health Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said during a discussion that, "the detection of glass and plastic particles were a serious breach of medical ethics and called for serious measures to be taken against those responsible," the sources added.
