New hope for GSP+ concession to Sri Lanka

Oct 29, Colombo: The British retail giant Marks and Spencer has assured Public Administration Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama that, the company will take every possible effort to make sure Sri Lanka receives the GSP+ concession.
Dr. Amunugama today (29 Oct) had a round of discussions with top officials of the Marks & Spencer and during the talks the officials have assured the Minister on bringing back the GSP + concession to the country.
"The M&S is one of the biggest retailers in the Europe and 20 percent of the Company's sales products in the garment sector are sourced from Sri Lanka, that shows how important they are," said the Minister.
Marks & Spencer (M&S) is a major British retailer, with revenues over £9 billion in 2009. The company has 885 stores in more than 40 territories around the world.
