Oct 29, Colombo: India's Kerala State is now eyeing on coconut pluckers even from neighbouring countries including Sri Lanka with higher perks, said an Indian report.
The Kerala State is facing serious shortage of pluckers since the present youth belonging to traditional coconut plucker families do not want to engage in traditional jobs of their predecessors.
The report further states that the Kerala State is willing to pay one million Indian rupees for the successful inventors who could find a mechanical way to replace the coconut pluckers.
The Kerala State is said to be one of the premier coconut producers in India.
