* Sri Lankan President orders to enhance education of displaced students in the North

Oct 28, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed the Ministry of Education to carry out special educational programmes for the students in the welfare villages who are expecting to take the G.C.E Ordinary Level examination at the end of the year and G.C.E Advance Level examination in the next year, the Ministry sources said.

On complying with the instructions given by the President, a contingent of teachers from Colombo has been sent to Vavuniya to conduct revision classes for G.C.E A/L students, whose education was affected due to terrorist interference during the war time.

Meanwhile, the teachers in the North and East are being assigned to conduct revision classes for the G.C.E O/L students, sources added.

The Ministry expects to fully cover the syllabi of both exams through the programmes and make them confident to face the examinations at hand.
