New crisis for Sri Lanka's troubled Ceylinco group

Oct 22 Colombo: Creating more headaches for Sri Lanka's troubled Ceylinco Group, the depositors of the Ceylinco Property Sharing Investment Corporation today staged a protest campaign against the company in Colombo.
The depositors held the protest campaign in front of the head office of the Ceylinco Property Sharing Investment Corporation in Colombo 04 demanding their money back immediately with or without interest.
The protestors said that they have deposited nearly Rs. 900 millions in the company, but they have not received interest for the last few months.
According to the protestors nearly 11,000 persons, including pensioners and small entrepreneurs have deposited money at the Ceylinco Property Sharing Investment Corporation.
The chairman of the Ceylinco Group Lalith Kothalawela and several other high rankers of the Group are currently in remand custody over the massive frauds occurred at several affiliated companies of the Group.
