Sri Lanka prepared to fight HIN1 Flu

Oct 18, Colombo: Sri Lankan Health officials are ready to face an Influenza A (H1N1) epidemic in the country, Health Ministry today said.
Dr. Palitha Maheepala, the Deputy Director of the Public Health Unit of the Ministry informed the media that 20 main hospitals in the country are on attention to fight against the spreading disease.
According to Dr. Maheepala separate wards have been established in all these hospitals for H1N1 patients and all the necessary medicines have already been provided.
The Health Ministry has also decided to treat the patients from outstations of Colombo at the main hospitals in the same areas without sending them to main Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) at Angoda.
Health officials said that twelve H1N1 patients are currently receiving treatments at the IDH in Angoda.
