Oct 17, Colombo: Foiling an escape bid, Sri Lanka police have arrested a former LTTE Sea Tiger cadre in Vavuniya, the police said.
According to the police the suspect had fled the welfare camp and was arrested in the area by a special police team sent from Colombo.
Meanwhile Vavuniya Police with the assistance of Sri Lankan Navy personnel recovered a haul of explosives and dry rations from a LTTE camp during a search operation conducted in the jungles of Mahavillu area yesterday evening, defense authorities said.
The security forces continue to recover hauls of weapons and explosives belonged to the LTTE during search operations in the former battlefields.
