* New fielding coach for Sri Lankan cricket team

Oct 16, Colombo: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has appointed former Olympic baseball player Gavin Fingleson as its fielding coach, SLC announced this evening.

Fingleson has played professional baseball in the US and Taiwan for nine years.

He was a player of the Australian Olympic baseball team that won a Silver Medal at the Athens Olympics in 2004.

According to the SLC, he was recommended by the Sri Lankan coach Trevor Bayliss for the fielding coach post of the national side.

Fingleson, currently associated with the New South Wales team in Australi is to arrive in the island within next few days to discuss his new appointment with the SLC officials.

He would be the next fielding coach of the Sri Lankan cricket side for 2011 World Cup tournament.
