Oct 07, Colombo: Sri Lanka Chief of Defence Staff General Sarath Fonseka has been appointed as the Secretary to the Ministry of Sports.
Sports Minister Gamini Lokuge said that General Fonseka has been appointed to the new post in addition to his current position as the Chief of Defence Staff.
General Fonseka however, has not expressed his decision to accept the post yet. Sources said the CDS is not very keen to engage in civil administration.
General Sarath Fonseka was the former commander of Sri Lanka Army who led the forces for a historical victory against LTTE rebels this year.
