Oct 07, Colombo: Election Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake today said that all the schools in the Southern Province will be closed on Friday in preparation of the upcoming provincial council polls.
Election Secretariat said the schools in Southern Province are to be used for election activities on October 09th and 10th as referred by the Commissioner.
The Election Commissioner has asked the education officials of the Province to cover the missing school day by holding classes on a selected holiday in the near future.
Preparations are currently underway for the provincial council election in the Southern province to be held on Saturday, October 10th, Election Secretariat said.
