Mon, Oct 5, 2009, 06:34 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Oct 05, Colombo: Construction of Dehiwala flyover is near completion and will be commissioned at the beginning of November to ease the heavy traffic congestion during rush hours on the Galle road at the Dehiwala junction, Road Development Authority said.

This flyover will also clear up the heavy traffic congestion across the busy towns of Colombo, Dehiwala, Mount Lavinia, Ratmalana, Moratuwa and Panadura along the Galle road, and provide access to thousands of vehicles even to travel during school hours and office hours at the Dehiwala junction, sources added.

Construction of the flyover commenced on July 7 this year. The two-lane flyover will be 337 metres in length and 7.35 metres in width. The total cost of the project is Rs.920 million.

Access Engineering Ltd in Sri Lanka is handling the construction work together with the British firm Mabey and Johnson Company of the UK, and the Road Development Authority supervises the construction work.
