* Gunman kills two soldiers in Northern Sri Lanka

Oct 03, Colombo: An unidentified gunman has killed two army soldiers who were on duty at Paranthakadathan in Mannar last night.

Police Spokesman Senior DIG Nimal Mediwaka said that the suspected gunman had fired at a group of soldiers who were on duty in the area.

Two of the soldiers had succumbed to their injuries following the attack and another one suffered injuries. The injured soldier had been admitted to the Mannar Hospital

The suspect, believed to be a member of an armed group in the area had fled after the incident.

According to the police this was the second such incident that killed some soldiers after defeating the terrorism completely in the North.
