Oct 03, Colombo: The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has arrested an army soldier over yesterday's blast inside a van in Kurunegala.
Police spokesman Senior DIG Nimal Mediwaka said the CID arrested the soldier from the army camp at Minneriya in Polonnaruwa last night.
According to the police the suspect, an army sergeant serving in the Bomb Disposal Unit, has accepted responsibility for the blast.
One student, Isuru Erandika Dissanayake (12) of the Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya had died and another thirteen were injured in the blast that took place inside a school van.
