Nov 30, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa will present an extended version of his earlier election manifesto, Mahinda Chintanaya to the public, a government Minister revealed today.
Addressing a pres conference today at the Mahaweli Center in Colombo, Transport Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said the President, after handing over the nominations, will present the extended version of his Mahinda Chintanaya manifesto that will envisage extensive development plans to build the country.
Minister Alahapperuma said this is the first time in the political history after independence that an extended version of an election manifesto is to be presented by a political party leader.
"In all elections in the past, all leaders presented new manifestos as a fashion," the Minister commented.
Meanwhile, President Rajapaksa's contender General Sarath Fonseka is reportedly to follow the economic Policies of the Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party.
The Minister of Environment, Patali Champilka Ranawaka accused the UNP of stealing a chapter in the original Mahinda Chinthana presented in 2005 in a UNP publication titled, Future Challengers.
