* International observers for next Presidential election in Sri Lanka

Nov 29, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake has invited four international observers for monitoring missions of next presidential election scheduled on 26 January 2010.

"The Commissioner has sent out invitations to the European Union, United Nations, Commonwealth Union and the Asian Association of Election Authorities (AAEA)," Additional Commissioner of Elections (Parliamentary) P. M. Siriwardena said yesterday.

He further said that, the voters who are listed in 2008 Electoral Register will be eligible to cast their votes at the forthcoming presidential election.

According to the Register, more than 14 million people are eligible to vote at the forthcoming poll, 700,000 more voters when compared to the 2005 presidential election.
