Nov 29, Colombo: General Secretary of the Ceylon Workers' Congress, Minister Arumugm Thondaman assured that the estate workers in the country are always with the President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The President has looked after the estate workers with no discrimination and provided more facilities to them, what no other government did before and it is the responsibility of the estate community to show their gratitude to the President, he said.
He made these comments addressing a special meeting at the Ceylon Workers' Congress Headquarters at Kotagala in Hatton recently.
"Today the 'elephant' (UNP) was very seriously ill and will not recover. We will leave no room for the estate community to get into trouble by going behind that sick elephant," the Minister pointed out.
The Ceylon Workers' Congress (CWC) is a minor political party that represents Indian Origin Sri Lankan Tamils working in the plantation sector of the country.
