* Sri Lanka film industry in danger

Nov 25, Colombo: The National Film Cooperation (NFC) has decided to stop granting of loans to film producers due to lack of funds available at the Film Cooperation, Chairman of the NFC Jayantha Dharmadasa revealed.

Earlier the Cooperation has granted 50% of the total cost of production for film producers and this move will be severely affected on the national film industry, he added.

Mr. Dharmadasa said that he has informed the matter to the relevant authorities and waiting for a reply from the authorities and to act upon their recommendations.

According to the informed sources, many of them, who were granted the loan facility have failed to repay the millions of rupees to the cooperation, thus the issue has prompted upon the whole industry.
