Nov 20, Colombo: Another school in Sri Lanka has been closed due to fears of a Influenza A/H1N1, commonly known as Swine Flu epidemic among the students.
According to the sources, the classes for grades 1 to 5 at the Dankotuwa Balika Vidyalya in Wennappuwa, North Western Sri Lanka have been closed today due to the flu threat after finding several school children with H1NI in the area by the health officials.
Meanwhile a crisis occurred between the provincial officials and the Education Ministry over the decision to close the schools in the Central Province from next Monday to combat the flu threat.
The Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said that the Ministry was not informed by the Central Provincial Council over the decision to close schools and the provincial officials should have consulted the Ministry prior to making a decision.
The Central PC yesterday decided to close all the government schools in the Province from next Monday as a precautionary measure of preventing the spread of AH1N1 virus.
