Former Sri Lankan president appointed to the board of Club de Madrid

Nov 18, Colombo: Former Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaranatunga has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Club de Madrid, the world's largest forum of former Democratic Presidents and Prime Ministers.
The office Ms. Kumaranatunga said in a statement that she has been appointed to the twelve-member Board of Directors of the Club De Madrid at its Annual Conference held last week in Spain.
More than 100 former Heads of State and experts around the world met over in Spain from November 12-13 to discuss "The Political Dimensions of the World Economic Crisis", it said.
The former Sri Lankan president Kumaratunga has addressed the conference on "Employment, Social Welfare, and Democratic Rights and Duties."
The Club De Madrid is an independent organization dedicated to strengthening Democratic values, Good Governance, and leadership around the world by drawing on the unique experience and resources of its Members.
