* Follow democratic path, Sri Lanka Marxists challenge the government
Mon, Nov 16, 2009, 08:40 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Nov 16, Colombo: Sri Lanka Marxist Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) today said that they are ready to defend the country's democracy in any manner as the government attempts to destroy it.

Speaking at a press briefing held in Colombo this morning JVP parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayake said the government is currently following an undemocratic path to achieve its goals to stay in power further.

The MP stressed that his party would never allow the government to destroy the country's democracy.

According to MP Dissanayake, previously the only goal of the JVP was to defeat separatism and all their actions were focused on that issue.

The Marxist party challenged the government to maintain a democratic stream to stay in power further if there is a clear favor in the people's mind for them.
