Myanmar leader visits sacred city of Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka

Nov 14, Colombo: The visiting leader of Myanmar Senior General Than Shwe today paid homage to the most sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura.
During his visit to Anuradhapura the head of Myanmar participated in several religious activities including a special Bodhi Pooja to receive blessings for him and his country.
The Myanmarian delegation is to reach Colombo tomorrow morning. They will participate in more religious activities at the historical Kelaniya Temple.
General Shwe and his delegation paid homage to the most sacred Temple of Tooth Relic on Friday and opened the Myanmar Chamber of the International Buddhist Museum that is being constructed in the Temple premises. He also donated US$ 10,000 to the Maligawa Development Fund.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the visiting Myanmarian leader will end his four-day tour and leave the country Sunday evening.
