Nov 14, Colombo: A gale force wind that blew across Koralawella area in Moratuwa Friday night damaged nearly 250 houses.
The Disaster Management Centre of Sri Lanka said the gusting wind with heavy rains lasted for several minutes. The conditions were similar to that of a twister, it said.
It was reported that several houses along the coastal line have been completely destroyed by the wind.
Power supply too has been disrupted due to trees falling on power lines in the area, the police said.
However there were no injuries reported.
