President does not need to do magic, says Sri Lanka Minister

Nov 13, Colombo: The Minister of Trade, Marketing, Corporative Development and Consumer Affairs Bandula Gunawardena says that every family in the country now receiving a saving around Rs. 2,500 due to the price reduction of several essential items by the government.
Speaking at a press briefing held in Colombo this evening Minister Gunawardena said there is no need to present a budget to provide the relief to the public if there is a real need to provide relief.
"It could be done even through a gazette notification," the Minister said.
If the government increased the salaries of state workers the benefit is only for them, but the price reductions of essential items benefit all in the country including the private sector workers and the unemployed, the Minister pointed out.
The Minister stressed that the President does not need to do magic for the upcoming national polls as he is continuing to provide relief for the public.
