Still not decided to enter politics, Sri Lanka CDS says

Nov 12, Colombo: Sri Lanka Chief of Defence Staff General Sarath Fonseka says although he has resigned from his post with effect from 30th of this month he has still not decided to enter the politics in the country.
Making a special statement to the media from Kelaniya Temple tonight General Fonseka confirmed that he has tended his resignation letter to President Mahinda Rajapaksa this afternoon.
According to General Fonseka, he has taken this decision as he has already passed the age limit of retirement.
"I have served for the country for nearly last thirty years, but at my new post I have nothing much to do," he pointed out.
Responding to reporters General Fonseka said that he has no problem with the government, but said "I don't know the Government's situation."
Hinting of entering of politics General Fonseka said that he will serve the country even after resigning from the military.
However, Fonseka said he has still not received any invitation from the newly formed United National Front to contest the upcoming presidential polls as a common candidate, but will consider it when they invited him.
Finally he said he believes that President Mahinda Rajapaksa will accept his resignation letter as it is a human right of every person who reached the retirement age.
President's office meanwhile said the President has accepted General Fonseka's resignation.
