Nov 11, Colombo: The Sri Lankan government has taken measures to provide employment opportunities to 17,000 unemployed graduates with immediate effect.
The Minister of State Finance and Revenue, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said those unemployed graduates will be recruited within the next few weeks for the vacancies in the state.
The government had considered this issue as a priority in its agenda, the Minister added.
Unemployed graduates protested several days ago in Sri Lanka capital demanding the government to provide employment opportunities immediately.
A group of unemployed graduates is still conducting a hunger strike in front of the Fort Railway Station over the issue.
