* Two main faculties in Sri Jayewardenepura University closed

Nov 11, Colombo: The Arts and Management faculties of the Sri Jayewardenepura University have been closed indefinitely after a clash erupted between two student factions.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, N.L.A. Karunaratna said the two faculties were closed from 12 noon today.

This decision was taken by the management following a dispute that erupted late last night between student unions of the two faculties.

According to the sources, several students have been admitted to the hospital with injuries due to the clashes.

The police riots units have also been deployed at the University premises to control the students, police confirmed.
