Sri Lanka government allocates Rs.75 billion to develop Ampara District

Nov 10, Colombo: The government has allocated nearly Rs. 75 billions to develop the Ampara District in Eastern Sri Lanka.
Joining a progressive meeting held this afternoon in Ampara District, Media Minister Laxman Yapa Abeywardena said the government expects to continue several mega development projects in the District.
During the last four years the government has implemented 51,000 small and medium development projects covering 12 major fields in the District, the Minister pointed out.
Additionally the Oluvil Harbor, currently under development with over 75 billion rupees (46 million Euros) of funds from Denmark is to be opened by the next year, he added.
According to the Minister every road in the Ampara District has also been reconstructed under the current development projects in Eastern province.
