Sri Lanka's controversial politician Muthuhettigama transferred to maximum security prison

Nov 08, Galle: Nishantha Muthuhettigama, the remanded Southern Provincial Councilor has been transferred to the maximum security Welikada Prison this morning.
Earlier he was detained in Galle prison after he was ordered to remand until 20th of this month by the Galle Magistrate Courts on Friday (Nov 06).
Muthuhettigama was earlier arrested on a warrant issued for him by the Galle Magistrate for failing to appear in the Court over the case related to the threats the Councilor made on the Galle Returning Officer.
Nishantha Muthuhettigama was the third highest preferential votes taker in recently held Southern provincial council election for ruling party, but clashed with government over the preferential votes.
As a result of these controversies Muthuhettigama was removed from the chief organizer post of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party in Akmeemana.
